An overheated blower motor on the furnace caused concern about a possible fire Thursday night.
Iuka Grade School Superintendent Sam Alli says they smelled something hot and saw a small amount of smoke during the end of a ballgame. A breaker was turned off and the fire department called.
Iuka Fire Chief Kenny Eagan says they used their large smoke ejector fan to clear smoke from the building. He notes the blower motor got really hot and potentially could have started a fire if no one was around.
Alli says the games had mostly ended when they asked all but employees to leave the building.
Salem Firemen were called for mutual aid assistance until Iuka firemen arriving on the scene realized the issue was under control.
