Both drivers and a passenger were taken to St. Louis hospitals following a crash at Elm and Noleman in downtown Centralia Saturday afternoon.
Centralia Police say witnesses indicated a pickup truck driven by 43-year-old Dennis Schuchman II of the 400 block of West Rexford in Centralia was northbound on Elm when he accelerated through the red light and struck an eastbound car on Noleman driven by 67-year-old Stephen Frazier of the 500 block of Marquis Drive in Centralia.
The impact threw Schuchman partially out the window of his pickup truck. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia and then airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
Frazier and a passenger in his SUV, 35-year-old Stevi Frazier, were initially taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. A family member says Stephen Frazier was transferred by ground ambulance to St. Louis University Hospital while Stevi Frazier was airlifted to the hospital.
Schuchman was ticketed for illegal transportation of liquor, disobeying a traffic control device, and operating a vehicle without insurance.
The crash occurred at 2:34 Saturday afternoon. Centralia City Firemen and Lifestar Ambulance assisted on the scene.
