Marion County Highway Engineer Mike McCormick has announced the Skillet Fork Bridge on the Route 161 Extension will reopen to two-way traffic next Tuesday morning. He told the Marion County Board’s Road and Bridge Committee Thursday night that the ten-ton weight limit will be lifted and return to 41 tons.
McCormick says while the lengthy closure was unexpected when the project began, the repairs to all the spans of the bridge should give it another 20 to 30 years of life.
DePew and Owen of Centralia completed the project and is now in the process of removing equipment so two-way traffic can resume Tuesday morning.
McCormick is thanking everyone for their patience in dealing with the one-way traffic and ten-ton weight limit during the lengthy repair process.
