The Jim Beasley Veterans Tribute has raised more than $4,000 in a quilt raffle that will go towards maintenance and upkeep of the Tribute located on the main college campus.
The winner of the ‘Patriot’s Quilt’ was Kevin Quitmeyer of Trenton.
Clinton County Fair Queen Mia Essenpreis pulled Quitmeyer’s name during a December 7th drawing.
The Tribute contains the names and branches of service of more than 55,000 area veterans. The Tribute was initiated in 2009 as a public-private partnership between Kaskaskia College and area community leaders who wished to honor veterans, both past and present. To date, the Tribute Committee has raised more than $1-million towards the project through fundraisers and donations.
Anyone who wishes to view the names currently collected for phase two can do so by going online at https://vets.kaskaskia.edu/ . You can also update or add any names you want through the website.
