The winners have been announced in the Daffy Dill Garden Club and Keep Salem Beautiful downtown planter box decorating contest.
The ABC Pub took the first place prize of $500 with the metallic Christmas Tree and Reindeer display. The entry was designed by owners Dug and Brandy Drenckpohl. The planter box is located in front of their building on South Broadway.
2nd Place – MCSB
Marion County Savings Bank took second with their Santa Claus entry that is located at the corner of Main and Broadway in front of Sweney Corner. The bank plans to paying it forward with their $300 prize. A specific project has not yet been named.
3rd Place – MFL
Midwest Farm and Land took third place Christmas scene. Their prize was $200. The planter is located in front of their business in the 100 block of West Main.
Officials of the two clubs say it was a very close contest and they had great participation this year. They note all the decorating teams did a wonderful job. Rusty Nail and Blooming Creations did the judging.
