The Marion County Sheriff’s Department says a 70-year-old Salem man escaped injury when his car ran off the Green Street Road near the Cole Stock Road intersection Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies say Carroll Emrick of Circle Drive failed to make a curve and ran down a small embankment before hitting several trees before coming to a stop.
Emrick was still in the car when emergency help arrived, but only needed to be assisted out of the vehicle and was not trapped.
The Salem Fire Protection District was dispatched when an early report indicated possible entrapment, but were cancelled before reaching the scene.
The crash occurred at 3:15 Tuesday afternoon.
