A total of 193 families with 525 children will receive help this Christmas season through the BCMW-WJBD Radio Adopt a Family program.
So far, 122 of the families have been adopted by 59 groups, individuals, churches, or businesses. The number of groups adopting is at the same level as at the completion of the program last year, but cash donations so far are down.
Tammy Chmielewski who coordinates the program at BCMW says part of the difference is some who didn’t adopt last year due to COVID-19 restraints and made a cash donation instead, have returned to shopping for the kids again this year.
The program can still use additional adopters as well as cash donations that will be used to shop for families who are not adopted. To help, you can call Chmielewski at BCMW at (618) 532-7388 extension 127.
