A Salem woman turns 100 on Wednesday.
Leona Meador was presented a Key to the City to mark the occasion at a small gathering over the holiday weekend by Mayor Nic Farley.
Meador is the mother of Sharon Woodward who says her mom’s memory is still sharp although she has trouble getting around. She currently resides at Odin Health and Rehabilitation where another party is planned for her today.
Meador was born in Wayne County and lived most of her life in Ashley where she worked for the former Hollywood Brands Candy first in Ashley and later in Centralia until the factory burned. She moved to Salem about ten years ago after the death of her husband.
