Kell Firemen work three other fire departments at the scene of a fire that destroyed an older home used for storage.

An older two story home used for storage was destroyed by fire Monday morning.

Kell Assistant Fire Chief Jason Franke says the fire was at 7104 Kell Road near the intersection with Buchanan. He reports the home was fully engulfed in flames when the first truck arrived. The major concern at that point was to protect the current home of Bryan Austin that was only about 40 yards away. Franke says firemen were able to protect the home as well as several outbuildings.

The cause of the fire will go down as undetermined.

Kell called Salem, Orchardville and Iuka to the scene for mutual aid, while Mt. Vernon City and Odin Firemen stood by at the Kell Fire Station. Franke notes with a number of tankers they were able to shuttle water to the scene without ever running short of water. There were no injuries. The fire call came in at 6:46 Monday morning. Firemen cleared the scene just after ten Monday morning.

An older vacant home used for storage was fully engulfed in flames when firemen arrived on the scene Monday morning.
