A large number of Thanksgiving dinners were served during Community Thanksgiving Dinners in both Salem and Centralia on Thursday.

Final tallies show 800 meals were served or delivered from the Poplar Place in Centralia and 375 from the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem.

Tammy Foltz organized the Salem dinner for the fourth year.  She was thankful for about 50 volunteers and more donated food than she expected.   They did have to work through a shortage of corn and green beans.

At Poplar Place, organizers reported plenty of donations and volunteers including Centralia Mayor Bryan Kuder and Wamac Mayor Butch Mathis to help prepare this year’s dinner.
