Firearm deer season kicks off Friday in Illinois.
It’s the busiest hunting season of the year, and the State Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters of reporting requirements says spokesperson Tim Schweizer.
“Here in Illinois, hunters who harvest a deer are required to check in their deer. Most places, hunters will do that by either going online and registering their harvest or phoning a number by 10pm on the same calendar day that they take a deer.”
The first deer hunting weekend is this Friday through Sunday. The second weekend is Thursday through Sunday, December 2nd through 5th.
In northern Illinois, there are 15 counties where hunters will have to bring their harvest to a Chronic Wasting Disease check station.
