Castle Ridge and the Harris Family Christian Foundation started what they called a new tradition when hosting Veterans for a free lunch on Veterans Day.

Mayor Bryan Kuder and his wife Christy, along with Councilman Robert ‘Spanky’ Smith and Councilman Rob Jackson joined the effort to offer support and help serve the Veterans.

Veterans from Mt. Vernon, Centralia, and Effingham were in attendance.

Kurt Harris of Castle Ridge and The Harris Family Christian Foundation says having a chance to give back is his motivator.   He called it a great first year and an event the community can look forward to in future years.  Harris says they hope to see it become one of the larger events for veterans n the region.  Harris said his dad is a vet, a Purple Heart recipient, so Veteran’s events have always been a cause that he has helped foster.

A big part of the Castle Ridge mission is about connecting with the community and giving back.
