A truck cab was destroyed by fire late Wednesday night on the entrance ramp to I-57 at the northbound rest area south of Salem.
Salem Fire Protection District officials say the driver, Lee Strawn, was able to get out of the truck before the fire engulfed the cab.
The fire was kept from spreading to the trailer that was hauling a non-hazardous material.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The truck is owned by Maverick, LLC of Little Rock, Arkansas.
The call came in at 10:30 with firemen on the scene for about an
hour.
