The Marion County Health Department will begin to administer booster doses of Moderna and J&J COVID-19 vaccine every Tuesday at the Salem office by appointment only.  The first clinic will be on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

For the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, a single vaccine booster is recommended 6 months after completion of an mRNA (Moderna or Pfizer) primary series.  CDC recommends the following groups should receive a booster:  people 65 years and older; residents in long-term care settings and people aged 50-64 years with underlying medical conditions.  CDC recommends the following groups may receive boosters:  people aged 18-49 years with underlying medical conditions and people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of their job.

For Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, a single vaccine booster dose is recommended for persons aged 18 years and older, 2 months after the receipt of the initial J&J dose.

CDC is allowing “mix and match” booster doses in eligible individuals, following completion of primary vaccination with a different available COVID-19 vaccine.

If you are unsure if you are recommended for a booster dose, please talk with your healthcare provider.

Please call the office at 618/548-3878 to make your appointment.

No walk-ins will be allowed.
