Calvin Leon Lawson Jr., 32, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Centralia, Illinois passed away Friday, October 14, 2022.

He was born on February 25, 1990, the son of Calvin Lawson Sr. and Felisicia Lytle in Centralia, Illinois.

Survivors that will remember Calvin’s contagious smile and love of life include his mother Felisicia Lytle of Chicago; father Calvin (Dana) Lawson of Centralia; children Jonathyn Mapp of Atlanta Georgia , and Nevaeh Davis-Lawson of Indianapolis Indiana; girlfriend Ashley Davis; stepmother Sheila Reed; grandmother Gail Spearman of Aurora, Colorado; sisters Mylesicia Lawson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Brittany Lytle of Terre Haute, Indiana, Sundria Lytle Greenwood of Indiana, and Whitney (Melvin) Williams, Jovaughna Lawson and Precious Lawson all of Arizona; brothers Jakeylen Scott Lawson of Centralia, Jaylen Scott Lawson of Centralia, Edward Edmon of New Mexico; stepsisters Oneishia Heard & Oretha Heard; stepbrother Andre White of Arizona; aunts Ladonna Lytle and Eisha Young, both of Indianaoplis, and Algerine Norris of Springfield, Illinois; uncles Rolland (Agnes) Lawson Jr. of Henderson, Nevada & Michael Lawson; great-aunt Natalie (Derrick) Carr; great-uncle Delmore “Slug” Lytle; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calvin was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers Vera Mae Lytle, and Frances Lawson; great-grandfather Odell Lytle; grandparents Rolland and Veola Lawson; great-aunt Karen Lytle; uncle Darwin Lawson; great-uncles Jeffery Lytle, and Thomas Lytle; and brother Londra Markee Lytle.

Calvin took his role as a father seriously, and was a proud father, making sure everyone knew of all the amazing things his children did. He was a natural athlete, enjoying time spent playing basketball, and showing his moves out on the court. Calvin was a creative soul, expressing himself through writing heart-felt poetry. His writing abilities found him, always with a journal in hand, ready to capture the words when inspiration came, be it music lyrics, poetry, or spiritual motivation. Calvin was full of life and loved beyond measure, and his memory will forever be treasured.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Centralia with Rev. Ronald Johnson officiating. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
