Trick or Treat night will come before Halloween night in most area communities since October 31st falls on Sunday.

In Salem, Trick or Treat activities are planned on Friday evening from six to eight pm. Salem Recreation Director and YMCA coordinator Jed Casburn says there will be an outside costume contest prior to trick or treat.

“Costume contest will be the 29th in the parking lot behind the fire department.  We just ask that hopefully everyone is interested in showing us their costumes this year.  Try and be there by about 5:20 p.m. so we can see who is all there and the judging will start about 5:30.  So we have enough time for everybody to get to where they need to be for the trick or treat downtown 6-8pm.”

Many merchants are once again planning to provide trick or treat treats to the ghosts and goblins along Main and Broadway downtown.

Trick or treat will also be from six to eight Friday night in Centralia, Wamac, Central City, Junction City, Sandoval, Odin, and Kell. Trick or treat in Kinmundy will be held from six to eight Sunday night.  Trick or treat in Alma will be from six to eight Sunday night, with refreshments and hotdogs available starting at 5 at Village Hall.  There will be trick or treating in the park as well as around town.

Trick or treat is for children 12 years of age and younger. Rain does not cancel Trick or Treat, with parents asked to exercise their own judgment.
