Centralia Halloween Parade Chair Butch Mathis says a change in websites may have resulted in some turning in parade entry forms that were never received.
Mathis says the old website that they have not been able to get taken down by the webmaster was still accepting online entries and sending an e-mail back confirming receipt.
“Did not receive a letter that I mailed out on your lineup please contact me at 533-5602 or my cell at 322-4238 and I will definitely get you in the lineup. It’s very important because we need to know all the entrants so they can be judged fairly. And we want to make sure everyone is in.”
Mathis says even without an unknown number of missing entries, the parade line-up is already shaping up into a good parade Saturday evening.
“So far we have 94 entries with 27 floats and 5 bands. Like I said it’s continuously growing. I appreciate everyone that has been resilient in entering this years parade.”
And Mathis says the Parade Committee surprised him with voting him this year’s grand marshal before he got to the meeting.
“Reluctantly I took it on or the committee members were going to quit on mass on me and I didn’t want that to happen. Me, I feel that we should honor everybody else for their accomplishments. I’m just doing my job. I want to show appreciation to everyone else about what they do. I’m humbled and honored but it’s going to drive me crazy. How am I going to coordinate the Halloween Parade while being in it? That is going to be a new one on me.”
The Centralia Children’s Halloween Parade will return to Library Park on Saturday morning. Participants should arrive by 10:15. Judging will be at 10:30 and the parade through downtown at eleven. Participants are asked to return to Library Park after the parade for awards.
The Centralia Fall Festival will also return with its normal activities throughout the day on Saturday.
