The Marion County Health Department is reporting 336 positive COVID-19 cases among students in the first month of the school year.
Melissa Mallow told the health board the count includes all student infections during last Friday. She noted a large number of cases seems to be coming down, a trend she hopes will continue.
The board was also told there had been no positive mosquito or other samples for West Nile Virus so far this year and no reports of tick-related diseases.
The board approved its annual budget for the fiscal year beginning December first. It is once again balanced. Mallow says the department will be receiving an additional $25,000 grant to support flu vaccination clinics. The board also agreed to restart the building fund to take care of any future big ticket repairs needed on the Salem or Centralia offices.
