Ruth Elizabeth Hart, 79, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 29, 1943, in Birkenhead, England, the daughter of Jack Salter and Lillian (Barlow) Novak. She married Leonard C. Hart, Sr. on March 30, 1963, and he survives.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, Leonard C. Hart, Sr. of Centralia, she is also survived by her two children: Leonard Hart, Jr. and wife Deanna of Virginia and Carla Vandeventer and husband Curt of Centralia; three grandchildren: Elizabeth Keeter and husband Wesley of Virginia and Brandi Vandeventer of Springfield, and Joshua Vandeventer and Hannah of Hoffman; a sister: Susan Crain of California; sisters-in-law: Carol Shook and Darrell Shook, Hazel Reed and husband Charlie, Judy Parkinson and husband Dale of Kell, and Julie Rice and husband Bruce of Kell; two brothers-in-law: Melvin Hart of Woodlawn and Lawrence Werner of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents: Jack Salter and Lillian Novak, step-father: Edward Novak, her brother: Patrick Novak and mother and father-in-law: Dorothy Werner & James Clifford Hart.
Ruth was the manager of Banks Bowl for many years until she retired. She enjoyed making crafts and shopping. She cherished the time she spent with her family, her fur babies: Boo and Lulu, and her friends. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. The burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, which is honored to be of service to the Hart Family.
