The Salem Police Department has arrested a 34-year-old Salem man on three counts of burglary for business burglaries earlier this year.
Damon Deboer of South Jefferson Street is being held for January and June burglaries at the Village Garden Restaurant and the June burglary at the Salem Country Club.
Salem Police say video gaming machines were broken into at Village Gardens. In the June incident, money was also taken from a cash out machine and cash register. There was also considerable damage to the restaurant from both burglaries.
At the Salem County Club, entry was gained by cutting a hole through the roof. No one was found when police responded to the burglar alarm. However, Police say the early morning of the incident Deboer had been stopped a short distance away and questioned.
Police Detective Trent Swaggler says there is video surveillance from all three burglaries where Deboer can allegedly be seen. Other evidence was also reportedly developed against him before DeBoer was arrested at his home on Thursday and brought to the Salem Police Department for questioning.
Deboer was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on formal charges.
Deboer is currently free on $10,000 personal recognizance bond after being charged in August with theft and criminal trespass to Four Seasons Garden Center. Police reported at the time of the arrest video showed Deboer loading up a truck with plants from the outside display of the business.
