A Violent Crime Suppression Detail was held in Centralia on Thursday with officers from multiple departments joining 40 Troopers targeting gang crime activity, violent offenders, and narcotics trafficking.
Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says these type of partnerships, with state, federal and local agencies, is key to the long term goals of reducing crime and improving the quality of life for area residents.
Officers from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Salem Police Department, and Centralia Police Department worked with the detail of Illinois State Police Troopers and Investigators from the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force to conduct a saturation patrol of Centralia.
Centralia Police say information on any arrests or other details of the day’s activity will be released by State Police in the future.
