Sunshine brought out the cars for the car show and a crowd for the annual Homecoming Parade in Kinmundy on Labor Day Monday.

This was the first year the South Central FFA chapter has taken over the car show.  Chapter Advisor TJ Bolen was pleased with the 103 entries that filled a large part of Kinmundy Park.

“We’re very glad to be involved.  The members did play a large part in the planning and preparation and helping out wherever was needed the day of.  It seems like the people who came here today to show their cars were very pleased and were glad with the event,” said Bolen.

The FFA added a farm truck class this year and will look at suggestions from attendees before deciding what can be done to make the car show even better next year.   They hope to make it an annual event.

The Best of Show Winner was Tom Brough with his 1932 Ford Roadster.

After the car show, attention turned towards the annual parade.  It was led by the full line up of the Kinmundy Alma Fire and Ambulance Department equipment, Odin and St. Peter fire department entries, the South Central Band, the South Central Middle School Cheerleaders, Mission South Central, several businesses, the Miss Marion County Fair and Junior Miss, along with several antique tractors and horses.   State Representative Blaine Wilhour was on hand and Republican Appellate Court Judicial Candidate Michael McHaney talked to votes along the parade route.
