The Kaskaskia College cross country teams open the 2021 season on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
The meet featured 7 colleges in the race, with the host EIU winning both the men and women races, followed by the U of I taking second. The Blue Angels placed 4th as a team and were led by Megan Cook in a time of 21:39 over the 5K distance. Summer Chelf was next for KC in a time of 22:36, she was followed by Cayla Krueger in 23:36, Maggie Fitzgerald in 24:36, Mya Albers in 24.50 and Macie Hargis in 24:54.
The Blue Devils placed 5th as a team. The KC men were led by Alex Detmer in 30:54 over the 8K distance, Next in line wa Ty Reynolds in 31:36, Ryan Gerdes in 31:49, Kolton Shoemaker in 32:51, Caleb Klein in 33:30, Andrew Stevenson in 34:02 and Alex Huegen in 36:26.The KC cross country teams will travel to Angel Mounds Park south of Evansville, IN. The twilight meet is hosted by Southern Indiana University.
