The boys and girls Salem cross country teams competed at The New Athens Invitational Tuesday. The boys finished 4th overall with a score of 86 points. Steeleville were the meet champions with a score of 72 points, Nashville 81 and Columbia 84. Leading the way for Salem was Branson Pappas 9th, Alek Bandy 11th, Rylan Crane 12th and Caden Beer 13th. There was 97 runners in the boys race. For the girls Ivy Donoho was 4th, Breanna Thurman 10th and Aila Laird 20th. The girls as a team were 6th with 86 girls competing.
Christ Our Rock also was at New Athens. Zerek Koch was 22nd and a medalist with Elijah Gregory 37th, Colt Suedmeyer 96th. On the girl’s side, Abagail Mayer was 5th, Rylee Brammier 229th, Sarah Mckowen 3rd at the mile but did not finish due to a hip injury.
