The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to approve a Redevelopment agreement with the buyers of Quality Sports Nets in Centralia. Gebke, LLC is seeking a five year forgivable mortgage to assist with gap financing for the building out of Tax Increment Financing District Six. 20-percent of the loan will be forgiven each year the business is in operation. Acting City Manager Derrick Sherman says the agreement will allow for the business to remain in Centralia at its current address of 2330 East Calumet Street. Sherman says the company currently has eight employees and plans to grow to 15 employees.
The council will consider a resolution dedicating a portion of Maple Street from Broadway to Rexford as “Roland Burris Way”. The actual street addresses will not change, but honorary signage will be put up.
The council will consider awarding a bid to Howell Paving for resurfacing Frazier, Nancy and Sara Drive at a cost of $215,125. Another bid award is proposed for Howell Paving to resurface Sycamore and Pine Streets at a cost of $128,067. A third bid for $34,545 from Ironhorse, Inc. is proposed to make repairs to the city owned railroad track spur following a recent derailment of a locomotive.
The council will consider once again making Third and Locust a four way stop sign. The goal is to slow traffic down on Locust and eliminate some unsafe conditions.
The council meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall. You may also view it via Zoom.
