Michael David “Poppie” Greear, passed away at 9:15 AM, Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at his home.He was born December 13, 1943, in Centralia, the son of Frank Robert and Betty (Ray) Greear. He married Janet Loyd at Hickory Street Christian Church in Centralia, and she survives.Dave loved Family, Friends, fishing, and hunting and was a dedicated St. Louis Cardinal Fan and Orphan Fan.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Betty Greear of Heritage Woods; son: Eric Greear and Kristi Blackman of Salem, brother: Dr. Randall Greear and wife Angela of Knoxville, Tennessee, brothers-in-law: Lowell “Butch” Loyd and wife Susan, Todd Loyd and wife Kaye, all of Texas; grandsons: Joshua Greear of Centralia, Brady Greear and wife Brooke of Rogersville, Missouri, Michael Cade Greear and Audrey Meyer of Lansing, Michigan, and Reece Kruse and Jada of Evansville, Indiana; granddaughter: Lea Blackman and CJ Spitler of Odin, Illinois; great-granddaughters: Elysiah Geear of Florida and Mycah Kay Greear of Missouri; great-grandson: Nixson Kruse of Evansville, Indiana; nephews: Jake Greear and wife Veronica and children: Amelia and Ben, Matthew and wife Trishia Greear of Cincinnati, Ohio and children: Cami and Griffin, Dr. Aaron Greear and wife Jodie of Memphis, Tennessee, Stephen, Josh, David, John Paul Loyd, Jed Loyd and wife Kristen all of Round Rock, Texas; Nieces: Jennifer Coppock and husband Jeff of Knoxville, Tennessee, Eve Peak and husband Johnny of Round Rock, Texas; great friends: Jerry Atchison, Allan Copple and Gary Hutchison.He was preceded in death by his father: Frank Robert Greear, grandparents: Charles and Opal Ray, mother and father-in-law: Marjorie and Noal Loyd, and son: Jeffery Greear.Dave retired from Murray Center as an engineer, after many years of service.Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 22, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia. His family asks that you dress casually, and feel free to wear your Cardinal or Orphan Gear. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Monday from 11:30 AM until the time of service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital and Shriners Children’s Hospital will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Greear Family.
