The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting 234 new cases of COVID-19 in Marion County for the week ending Friday. That’s a 34-percent increase over the prior week and represents an infection rate of 629 per 100,000. Anything over 100 cases per 100,000 puts a county at the highest level of infection. Marion County reported 26 new hospital admissions, up 30-percent from the prior week. The county’s positivity rate is at just under 11-percent.
Only one north-central Illinois county is not in the high category and all but Fayette County are on the state’s warning list for rising COVID-19 cases.
Jefferson County reported 151 cases in the week ending on Friday, a 56-percent increase from the prior week. 25 new hospitalizations were reported. The county now has a positivity rate of just under 14-percent. Clinton County reported 140 new cases for a 57-percent increase from the prior week. There have been no new hospitalizations. The positivity rate is at just over eight percent.
Washington County reported 65 new cases for a 67-percent increase from the prior week. There are no new hospitalizations. The positivity rate is just under 18-percent which is down five percent from the prior week.
Fayette County had 48 cases reported last week, a 100-percent increase. There were no new hospitalizations and the county’s positivity rate is just over two percent.
Clay County has reported 78 new cases for the past week, a drop of seven percent. There were nine new hospitalizations, which is down 3-percent. The county’s positivity rate is just under 16-percent.
Wayne County had 85 new cases, a 42-percent increase. There were three new hospitalizations and a positivity rate of just under 15-percent.
Statewide last week, 21, 334 new cases and 92 additional deaths were reported.
