The Marion County Health Department is reporting the 123rd death during the COVID-19 pandemic along with 80 new cases in the past four days.
The fatality was a female in her 90s who had not been vaccinated that was not a long-term care resident but who had been hospitalized. 34 of the cases are in long-term care facilities with five facilities reported in outbreak status which means five or more active cases.
The 80 cases from Tuesday through Friday included 17 who are fully vaccinated, 30 who are considered community spread, and 50 who got the disease from household or close contacts. There are now 22 in the hospital with COVID-19 related symptoms, including there on ventilators. There are now 205 active cases. 182 are on home isolation.
The age of the positive cases ranges from four girls under 13 three males in their teens to two males in their 90s and four females in their 90s. Seven are listed as school age. All are on isolation.
The new cases bring the total number of COVID-19 in Marion County to 5,000….5,021 to be exact.
