The Marion County Fair is reporting bigger grandstand crowds each night of this year’s fair along with good crowds on the midway each night. Fair Board President Doug Telford says after a disappointing start with the cancelation of the Moto Cross on Saturday night due to muddy conditions from rain earlier in the day, everything else was positive.
“We had probably one of the best weeks of weather we could ever ask for for the Fair. The grandstand entertainment has been excellent throughout the week. Every night’s had a good crowd. I honestly think people were ready to get out. They had a year of being isolated and the community came out and supported the Marion County Fair and I am very appreciative of.”
Telford also commended the 43 who make up the Fair Board for their dedication. He notes each finds their special role during fair week and are able to complete it with minimal supervision.
Exact numbers are not yet available on attendance each night at the grandstand event. However, fair officials say the Friday night demolition derby was a sellout and one of the biggest crowds ever at the fairgrounds.
Telford says they will now look at notes for this year’s fair and decide on any needed changes. However, he expects the lineup to be very similar to this year.
