Jackie B. Lanham, 88, of Salem, formerly of Springfield, KY passed away in his wife’s arms at home on Tuesday afternoon (July 20th, 2022). He was the 5th of 13 children. Jackie retired from World Color Press in Salem after 44 years. He transferred from Kentucky plant in 1976 to the Salem where he served as the head floating operator. Jackie enjoyed fishing, being outside “in the sun, where it’s warm”, driving around, and listening to country music.
A celebration of life will be at from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Salem Presbyterian Church in Salem, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.pagelfuneralhome.com.
He married Freda Ramsey on April 14th, 1983, at the courthouse in Springfield, KY. She survives. Other survivors include 4 daughters, McKenzie “Missy” Lanham of Mount Vernon, IL, Ada Weatherford of Salem IL, Mary (Charlie) Dietrich of Kentucky, and Carol (Mike) Shipley of Kentucky; 4 stepsons, Thomas White and Larry White of Salem IL, and Kevin and Anthony White of Edgewood, IL; brothers, James Richard Lanham, Donnie Lanham, and Jerry Lanham all of Kentucky; sisters, Betty Lanham Boblet and Judy Lanham both of Kentucky; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
Jackie was born on April 14th, 1934, in Springfield, KY, the son of Author and Mary Belle (Wigginton) Lanham. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Will Lanham, Kenny Lanham, Bobby Lanham, and Ronnie Lanham; sisters, Sara Jean Lanham- Shewmaker, Pearlie Mae Lanham- Spaulding, Patsy Lanham- Milburn; son-in-law, Bill Weatherford.
