A 26-year-old former Centralia man has been sentenced to five years in prison after entering a negotiated plea in Marion County Court on Tuesday to aggravated battery.
Perry Nesbitt, who now lists a Chicago address, admitted to using a metal pipe to strike a man multiple times.
Police Chief Greg Dodson at the time of the arrest said Nesbitt had gone to a home in the 13-hundred block of South Elm and began chasing the alleged victim before striking him around the body. The victim received multiple lacerations to his back and was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment of injuries.
After getting out of prison, Nesbitt will have to serve one year parole. He was eligible for an extended sentence due to a prior Perry County Conviction.
