Heavy thunderstorms accompanied with strong gusty winds on the leading edge of the front caused flooded roads and some large downed tree limbs Saturday morning.
A large tree limb brought down a power line and broke two poles on Oak Park West in Centralia leaving 212 customers without power. They included many of the Westside businesses.
Another large down tree limb fell across South College Street south of the Little League Complex. The limb caused a power pole and a power line to crash to the ground. The power line only served one vacant home. Ameren crews removed the down lines and pole and Salem City Crews cleaned up the downed tree limb.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies reported several large tree limbs down. Some were blocking roads, but all were reportedly removed quickly.
The storms dumped 1.02 inches of rain at the Salem Water Plant and 1.01 inches at the Centralia Water Treatment Plant. No gates had to be opened on Raccoon Lake.
