Kathryn “Kathy” Louise Burke, 72, of Dix, Illinois, passed away at 8:40 am July 26, 2022 at her residence in Dix. Kathy proudly served her country in the United States Air Force in the Vietnam Era where she met Patrick. She was a proud member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Kathy adored her husband, who stayed by her side till the end. She loved her kids and adored her grandchildren. She always wanted the sound of lots of little feet running around.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:30 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with Pastor Joanie Naraghi officiating. Kathy married Patrick “Pat” Burke on June 2, 1972 in Reseda, California. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary. In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her children, Vance and Shannon Burke, Heather and Aimee Brockhol, and Bonnie Burke; grandchildren, Patrick Burke, Madison Burke, Aiden Burke, Gavin Burke, Keala Burke, and Jacobi Brockhol; sister, Barbara Patchis; brother, Bruce Whidden; niece, Karen Steele; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was born April 8, 1950 in Los Angeles, California to the late David Horace and Virginia May (Immel) Whidden.
