We regretfully announce the passing of Allen Wayne Lowery, age 63 in Salem, Illinois. Allen passed away on July 22, 2022, at his home with his wife and children at his side. Allen had a long and difficult battle with Huntington’s Disease and is now finally at rest. He will be forever remembered for his courage and strength and kind and caring soul. Allen will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Allen was born on February 20, 1959, to Donald and LaDonna (Harnden) Lowery, and they preceded him in death.
He lived a life dedicated to his God and his family. He was a true outdoorsman in every sense of the word. Allen proudly served his country in the United States Marines and was retired with disability from the Union Pacific Railroad. He joined in marriage with Laura Goodwin, on February 14, 1987, in Salem, IL and she survives.
Also, surviving are his two children, Zachary Lowery of Kell, IL, and Hannah Lowery and finance Jagger Fenton of Salem, IL, along with his granddaughter Zoey. Also left to mourn his passing are his siblings, Steve Lowery of Alma, IL, David Lowery and wife Pam, Robert Lowery and wife Jessica and Julie Ferris and husband Tim all of Longview, TX. Also two aunts, Kay Bunton and husband Don, Linda Lowery, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday in the chapel of Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, Salem, IL 62881 (618) 548-1234. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery with military honors accorded at the graveside by the Salem American Legion Post #128 of Salem. Visiting hours will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
