Rebecca Josephine (Strattan) Taylor, 80, Mt Vernon, Illinois passed away on July 12, 2022 at Lavender Ridge Memory Care in Mt Vernon, Illinois. Rebecca graduated from Mount Vernon Township High School in 1959 and graduated from Cosmetology School. She also graduated from Rend Lake College with LPN and RN degrees. She worked as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for many years and later worked as a nurse for Dr. Oza’s office. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and donations may be made to the church.
A Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will will begin at 2:00 pm. Rebecca is survived by her children, son Dale R. Taylor and wife Kelley of Mt Vernon, daughter Shawn Williams and husband Donnie of Mt Vernon, grandchildren Amber Schultz and husband Seth of Mt Vernon, Amie Henderson and husband Justin of Swansea, IL, Alicia Shayanowako of Mt Vernon, Matthew Williams and wife Molly of Little Rock, AR, Zachary Williams of Evansville, IN, and Gabriel Taylor of Mt Vernon, great-grandchildren Hailey and Maia Schultz, Dakota Taylor, Jayden Taylor, Kaden Shayanowako and Mabry Williams, sisters Dorothy Olin of Mt Vernon and Maple Patton of Centralia, IL, and several nieces and nephews – Fred Stattan, Bob Strattan, Brad Stone, Leann Banta, Kathy Wilson, Rodger Huckleberry, Jill Huckleberry, Clint Taylor and Megan Hallmark.
She was born November 10, 1941 in Mount Vernon to the late Leonard and Dorothy (Skelton) Strattan of Mount Vernon. Rebecca married Richard E. Taylor on July 11, 1959 at Opdyke Baptist Church. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage before his passing on November 19, 2015. In addition to her parents and husband, Rebecca was preceded in death by her brother Leonard Strattan, sister Lois Stone, brother-in-law Steven Taylor, and nephews Bruce and Brian Olin.
