Kathern “Cleo” Wadkins, age 86 of Patoka IL, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Odin Care Center. Cleo was born June 17, 1936, in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Carl and Martha (Longwell) Splechter.
Cleo is survived by daughters, Cathy (Wadkins) Quick and husband Albert of Patoka, IL, April (Wadkins) Sprehe and husband Lonnie of Horn Lake, MS; son Carl Wadkins and wife Donna (Buchele) of Shattuc, IL, and daughter-in-law Lisa (Romack) Wadkins of Patoka, IL. granddaughters Kathy Jo (Quick) Norman and husband Troy of Odin IL, Amanda (Wadkins) McDaniel and Andy of Irvington, IL, and Angie (Grote) Quick of Hoyelton, IL. grandsons, Jeremy Gelsinger and wife Shannon (Pryor) of Vandalia, IL, Chad Gelsinger of Junction City, IL, Curt Gelsinger and wife Tara (Toberman) of Vandalia, IL, Tom Wadkins of Shattuc, IL, Andy Wadkins and wife Whitney (Brooks) of Sandoval IL, Daniel Wadkins and wife Kelsey (Swain) of Vandalia, IL, Avery Sprehe and wife Candy of Cobden, IL and Jason Sprehe and wife Amber of Woodlawn, IL. Sister, LaDawn (Splechter) Caudle and husband John of Vernon IL and brother Patrick Splechter and wife Alecia (Noller) of Patoka IL, Sisters in law, Carolyn Wadkins, Sherry Wadkins, and Donna Caudle. 22 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Cleo was proceeded in death by her husband Dean Wadkins, parents Carl and Martha Splechter, daughter Martha Lee Wadkins, son Joseph Wadkins, grandson Jason Quick, granddaughter Katie Jo Wadkins, and great-grandson Dylan Gelsinger.
Cleo worked for many years at Miss Elaine’s in Centralia before her retirement. Cleo was a member of the First Baptist Church in Patoka. Cleo was well known for baking sugar cookies for all her family and friends. Cleo was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and could be found sitting in her recliner watching the game.
Funeral Services for Kathern “Cleo” Wadkins will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Day Macz Funeral home in Patoka, IL with her nephew Shaun Splechter officiating with interment at the Patoka Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Patoka. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church of Patoka, the Patoka Ambulance Service, or Patoka City Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home. The family requests that St. Louis baseball Cardinal attire be worn.
