Wamac Police arrested two people following an attempted traffic stop that turned into a slow speed chase on Monday night. Wamac Police Chief Steve Prather says the car driven by 29-year-old Preston Rinne of East Noleman in Centralia eventually came to stop in the 1600 block of Hester Street.

At that point, Rinne got out of the vehicle and onto the ground. He was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, fleeing or eluding police, and illegal possession of ammunition without a FOID card. Prather said two 22 caliber rifles along with loose ammunition were found in the car.

A passenger, 22-year-old Christopher Gallatin of Hester Street, allegedly ran on foot from the car and was apprehended by Centralia Police near the U.S. 5 1 viaduct. He was arrested for resisting arrest and on an outstanding Marion County felony failure to appear warrant for felony driving on a revoked or
suspended license. Bond on the warrant is set at $10,000.
