The pieces are now being put into place for the Inclusive Playground in Bryan Memorial Park.
Salem Finance Director and Lions Club member Kelly Barrow says if the weather cooperates the work should move quickly.
“It should take about 3-4 weeks depending on the weather. When they are done with setting up the playground and doing all the surfacing work the city will come in and do our surfacing work, set up pavilions the Lions Club has purchased and we are hoping it will be done in about 6 weeks.”
Barrow says that means the Lions Club Addy and Friends Playground should be ready to use by sometime in August.
The rest of the new park amenities should be completed before winter.
The improvements being made possible are the result of a project of the Salem Lions Club, a Lions Foundation Grant, and a state OSLAD grant that matched much of the money raised.
