Goldie Pearl Copple, 105 years of age, of Salem, Illinois, and Zephyrhills, Florida passed away June 13, 2022, at Advent Healthcare, Dade City, Florida.
Born June 10, 1917, in Iuka, Illinois, she was the daughter of Albert Jasper and Effie Mae (Scott) Jourdan.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, July 1, 2022, in the chapel Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, 310 N. Broadway, Salem, IL 62881 (618) 548-1234 with burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. Pastor Ben Wyatt will officiate. Visiting hours will be from 1:00 pm until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Open Arm’s Fellowship Building Fund and will be accepted by the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home entrusted with the family’s care. Goldie will be remembered as a hard worker. She retired with 27 years of faithful service from Salem Shoe Factory. She was a faithful member of Open Arms Fellowship in Salem and loved to attend church. Family was very important to Goldie and loved spending time with them. In the last few years, very dear to her heart was her baby doll, Effie Mae who brought her much comfort and joy.
She united in marriage with George A. Copple, on April 27, 1935, in Salem and he preceded her in death [7/15/2000] celebrating 65 years of marriage.
Surviving are her son Ronald L. Copple and wife Susan of Zephyrhills, FL, grandson Bart Copple and wife Marissa of North Aurora, IL, Mark Copple of Salem, IL, Scott Copple and wife Heather of Edwardsville, IL, Collette Sexton and husband Brent of Highland, IL, Patricia Berry and Cyndi Grace Sander of Poplar Bluff, MO, along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and in-laws. Also, a very special niece Rosalee Barbre of Salem, IL, daughter-in-law Sharon Copple, and the mother of son Clarence’s children, Carol Copple.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Clarence A. Copple [3/3/2001], grandson Brett Leroy Copple [12/23/1960], former daughter-in-law Sue Copple and siblings George, William, Jasper, Leo, Ervin, and Herschel Jourdan, Minnie Bartley, Ettie Jourdan, Pettie Boyles, and Dollie Jourdan.
