A 39-year-old Alma woman has had two charges of reckless homicide dropped against her after entering a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of driving an uninsured vehicle involved in bodily harm.
Brandy Smith was sentenced to one year probation and ordered to undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment.
Smith faced the reckless homicide charges following a November 12th, 2019 crash at the Tonti Road and Route 37 intersection just north of Salem. The charges claimed she stopped at the stop sign on Tonti Road and failed to yield when turning onto Route 37 where her vehicle collided with one driven by Leo Murphy.
The impact of the crash killed Murphy and his wife Virginia Murphy later died as a result of her injuries.
