Salem swordfish are now 2-0 in Southern Illinois Swim League Conference after beating Duquoin at home last night.
8 year old Gia Ward finished 2nd in the 25 meter free , 1st place finishes in 25 meter backstroke and breaststroke. Piper Stanford was 1st in 50 meter free.
Boys 9/10 year old division was led by Jared Crompton 1st place in 25 butterfly, 25 backstroke, and 50 meter free while Teammate Kai Graham finished first in 25 free.
The Girls 9/10 year events were swept by Salem’s Joselyn Redenbo in the 100 IM and 25 backstroke, 10 year old Gracie Dice 1st in the 25 breaststroke and 10 year old Charlotte Johnson 1st place in 25 butterfly, 25 freestyle and 50 meter freestyle. This trio plus teammate Lexie Malan also combined to win both medley and freestyle relays.
Boys 11/12 had wins from Marty Douglas, Jared Crompton and Liam Morris.
Scoring points for Salem with top 3 finishes for 11/12 girls were Addison Lever, Mira Rich and Lauren Brubaker.
13/14 boys went 1st and 2nd in 50 fly and 100 free with Austin Woolridge and Brody Elwood while Ethan Baldridge won the 50 backstroke. And Aubrey Bandy posted a 1st place in 50 butterfly, 2nd in 50 back and 100 free while Ella Douglas finished 1st in 100 IM, 2nd in 50 fly and 50 breast.
The Swordfish are back in action Thursday night when they host Herrin and Nashville.
