Rotary Into City Series, Americana v. IGA Wednesday For Other Birth

In boys majors at the Little League Complex last night, IGA shutout Lions 9-0.  Landon Tennyson had a great outing going 5.1 innings only allowing 5 hits and 0 runs.  Drake Rector closed down the game.  At the plate, Rector was 4-4, Brant Thompson and Zane Dodson added hits.  For Lions, Evan Barnes pitched 2 solid frames allowing just 1 run and had 2 hits offensively.  IGA defense committed no errors and made 2 double plays.  Jackson Hodge has been a really good surprise for IGA playing the most improved defense of the team at 2nd base.

The Rotary Reds know they are in next week’s City Series.  They won a tight pitching dual last night 3-2 over Americana.  Landen Maxey allowed just 2 runs and 2 hits with 10 strikeouts in the win.  He also doubled at the plate.  For Americana, Trey Clark allowed just 1 hit and struck out 11.  Jaxon Ward and Nicholi Mahrenka singled in the loss.  Tonight, Americana and IGA will play in their season finale with both teams 7-7, the winner will play Rotary next Tuesday in Game 1 of the City Series.

In girls majors, Wabash Communication beat Casey’s 12-1.  Brylee Pennypacker was the winning pitcher going all 6 innings striking out 13.  She also had a triple and a double at the plate and scored 3 runs.  Adyson Pracht hit a triple.  Caitlynne Bryan doubled.  Bella Winchester and Abigail Thompson scored 2 runs each.  For Casey’s Emma Lipe worked 5 innings and struck out 8.  Blaike Jordan scored 2 runs.

Landers over United Medical 11-5.  Kendall Zimmermann struck out 10.  Maci Thorsen had 2 triples.  For United, Quine Wolfe struck out 11.  Kinley Haines had 2 hits, Emma Jones doubled, Zetta Graham singled and doubled.  Kaolin Lewis and Kloi Spencer added singles along with Morgan Holland and Myka Gaston doubled.

In girls coach pitch, Bandy’s won the tournament title beating DQ 16-10.  Kenna Benjamin had a big night with a home run, triple, and double to drive in 8 runs and score 3.  Abigail Westman drove in 2 along with Julianna Rushing and Kaylee Carroll.  Bandy’s finishes the season undefeated.
