The Centralia Veterans 4th of July Parade will start later than usual this year because the 4th falls on a Sunday.
The parade is now set to step off at two pm, instead of the normal ten am start, this year only.
Butch Mathis who coordinates the yearly parade says everything else will stay the same, including the route that starts at Broadway and Chestnut downtown and proceeds to Fairview Park where the Centralia American Legion Homecoming will be underway.
“Sent out 60 entries for the 10th annual Veterans 4th of July Parade. I only have about 11 entries that have applied. I’m hoping everyone would turn them in by the 25th of this month so I can get the logistics lined up. But if you want to participate even the day of the parade we will still have a signup sheet at the corner of Chestnut and Broadway prior to the parade.”
Mathis says any organization, club, dance team, group or individual interested in participating may contact him at 618-533-5602, via e-mail at wamacer@att.net or obtain an entry form at Centralia City hall or by visiting cityofcentralia.org.
