Audra R. Cowie, 73, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia. Audra was a resident of Central City for 50 years, and moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia in 2019, with her beloved dog Sweetie Pie. Audra owned and operated her own cleaning business for many years. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed photography, painting and writing.
Funeral Services for Audra Cowie will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 1 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Cowie Family. Audra is survived by her daughter: Ember Crow of Front Royal, Virginia; two step-sons: Chris Cowie of Centralia and Tracy Cowie of Georgia; granddaughter: Gwendolen Waggener and husband Noah; great-grandchild: Olivet; two brothers: Gary Soper and wife Lisa and Randy Soper and wife Casey; three sisters: Brenda Hays and husband Larry, Sandra Henson and husband Jim, and Gloria Finney and husband Dave; brother-in-law: Paul Womack; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born July 31, 1948 in Centralia, the daughter of Raymond Soper and Audrey (Burkett) Soper. She married William Edward Cowie on June 7, 1969 and he preceded her in death on December 9, 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Audrey Soper, husband: William Edward Cowie, grandson: Christopher Shane Cowie, and two sisters: Myra Ann Soper and Janice Womack.
