The Fairview Shopping Center in Centralia has new owners.

Ipanema Management has purchased the center.   The privately-owned, Miami-based real estate investment company owns and operates a diverse real estate portfolio of office buildings, industrial, retail and multi-family properties with over 1.5-million square feet in Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, New York, Texas, Michigan, and now Illinois.

Centralia Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marcus Holland and Centralia Assistant City Manager/Economic Director Derek Sherman had a chance to meet with the company’s Thiago Guerra.

Holland came away optimistic about development plans including the potential of incubator space for entrepreneurs in Centralia.  Guerra indicated he would like this to be an affordable, short-term lease for new businesses to try out the market.

Guerra also conveyed how extremely excited they are about the investment.   He indicated they look forward to working with the community to bring new business and improve the center.  Guerra also said they were open to discussing new partnerships and new ways in which the Plaza can be a more active member of the community.

Sherman says he was really excited and encouraged of plans to fill vacancies and said it was nice the owner came to town to see their investment, something that hasn’t happened with several other recent owners.

Holland announced Ipanema Management has joined the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce as a community partner at the ‘Director’s Level’.    Holland noted there was also a great discussion that highlighted the city’s restaurants, parks, events, and activities.  He says they were very interested in the entire community and not just the property they purchased.  Holland says it is great to see new ownership that genuinely cares about Centralia.
