Five people have died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 40 near Brownstown in Fayette County.
State Police say the crash occurred on Saturday afternoon when a westbound car driven by 50-year-old Lloyd Rowe of Brownstown ran onto the right shoulder, overcorrected, lost control, and then collided with a westbound car driven by 22-year-old Hailey Funneman of Effingham. The collision caused both vehicles to skid into the south ditch where they came to rest.
Both drivers were killed along with three passengers in the Funneman car. They are identified as 25-year-old Coleton Price of Shumway, 43-year-old James Bowlin of Effingham, and 45-year-old Jeana Kollman of Effingham. All five were pronounced dead on the scene.
The crash occurred at 3:14 Saturday afternoon.
State Police say no further details are currently available.
