About 160 business and industrial leaders attended the Centralia Industrial Commission’s Appreciation Reception Thursday night at the new Castle Ridge Resort.

Centralia City Manager Forrest Langenfeld felt it was time for everyone to get back together after the event had to be canceled last year due to COVID-19.

“This very excited coming out of the pandemic having all our business leaders together out here at the new Castleridge Complex.  We had a great turnout and talked a lot about the job fair coming up, Balloon Fest weekend, and a chance to sell our community to out of town folks who may want to come in here and start their life a new with a new job in our community.”

Langenfeld says the event will also feature day care options, real estate agents, and a home builder to present options to those seeking employment and considering a move to Centralia.

Langenfeld notes open jobs seems to be universal across all fields and at the present time is holding back two Centralia Industries from moving forward with planned expansions until they feel assured they can find needed employees.

The event was sponsored by People’s National Bank.
