Two people were arrested when Centralia Police broke up a burglary in progress Monday at a home in the 1100 block of South Sycamore.
36-year-old Ashley Matson and 31-year-old John Pope of South Davis were both taken to the Marion County Jail for alleged burglary, criminal trespass to a residence and identity theft.
Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says it was apparently the second time the two had burglarized the same house. They reportedly stole checks during a burglary a few weeks ago and tried to use the homeowners identity to get a loan in her name at the bank. Dodson says the effort was not successful.
The two were taken into custody without incident. Police had gone to the home after receiving a report from a neighbor of someone going in the home.
