Republican Gubernatorial candidate Gary Rabine made his first appearance in Marion County over the weekend at the Marion County Republican Party annual Lincoln Day Dinner.

Rabine outlined his plan to get Illinois on track and to “pave the way to success”. That’s a play on words for Rabine who studied the state while building his concrete paving business across the country.

“I’ve watched Illinois go from the best state to the worst.  We were the best even in 2006 and 07 we were the best state today we are the worst when it comes to the cost to do business, create a job.  We are doing everything to chase business and jobs away.  As well as homeowners.  Taxes are the highest.  I’ve watched all these things happen.”

Rabine also spoke on what his goals were running for office.

“One is job creation which I understand very well.  I believe we should be creating 50,000 jobs a year here instead of losing 50,000.  Secondly is taxes.  We are the highest taxed state in the country right now and property tax we are definitely the highest.  They say New Jersey is highest so we are either 1st or 2nd highest.  It’s sickening because we are 300% of the average.  My 3rd goal is to serve families again.”

Illinois Senator Jason Plummer, State Representative Blaine Wilhour, U.S. Congresswoman Mary Miller, U.S. Senate Candidate Peggy Hubbard, and Associate Judge candidate Mike McHaney also spoke before the enthusiastic crowd that filled the Exhibit building at the Fairgrounds.
