A decision by recently appointed Odin School Superintendent Sam Alli to take the job of Iuka Grade School Superintendent has led to the promotion of recently hired Odin Principal Kimberly Briggs to the Superintendent’s job. The Odin School is now advertising for a Principal to replace Briggs. She is coming to the district from Special education Coordinator Administrator at the North Clay Unit School District.
The Odin School Board this spring had named current Odin Principal Alli to the Superintendent’s job to replace the retiring Jeff Humes.
Alli said he wasn’t looking to anywhere, but when the Iuka Grade School Superintendent’s job became open with the resignation of John Consolino on June 30th he threw his hat into the ring because he felt it was a better fit for him and his family. Alli said he has enjoyed his time at Odin, but couldn’t pass this up.
Alli says the Iuka Grade School is a well-oiled machine as Consolino and his staff have done a great job. He wants to maintain what has been established and enhance where possible. Alli says Iuka is a fantastic school community and he feels blessed to be chosen to be the next person to carry the torch.
Alli is a lifelong Marion County resident who graduated from Centralia High School. He has been married for 23 years to Kim, who is a registered nurse at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia and has four daughters.
Alli taught at Salem High School for ten years before becoming Odin School Principal eight years ago. Briggs was a speech-language pathologist for 24 years in school and hospital settings before moving to the Fairfield Elementary District for 14 years and then her current position at North Clay.
